The Alsace region is unique for its mixture of French and German heritage, and perhaps nothing symbolizes that more than the decorative half-timbered houses.

Of the many historic buildings in Strasbourg, this one stood out to me as having a particularly robust character, and yet I knew it would be a challenging sketch to complete.

Across a few days, I etched away using a warm red-brown ink that reflects the hot, late summer days.

Just a block away from the Bolinger store is the famous Cathedral de Notre Dame Strasbourg, and, looking back at this piece, I can still hear the bells ringing. What a sight!
